There’s always the question of “what’s better?”. We tend to gravitate towards picking one over the other and can never quite settle on having two good options over one. The truth is at Mana Matcha, we like both! Let’s start off by saying, we were avid coffee drinkers before we made the contrasting switch to matcha. But don’t let that fool you, we’ll still go out of our way to try an enticing cup of joe! At Mana Matcha, we obviously have a slight preference for matcha due to its abundant health benefits, and we want to share why!
Though coffee and matcha both provide caffeine to our systems, there are quite varying differences between the two. Let’s whisk into it to see if matcha may be the right fit for your lifestyle!
Calming Aura: While both brews pack a caffeinated punch, matcha's secret weapon lies in its L-theanine content, which promotes a sense of tranquility alongside its energizing effects. Matcha’s gentle approach to caffeine reduces feelings of anxiety or jitteriness that some people experience with coffee.
Steadfast Energy: Infused with caffeine and L-theanine, matcha orchestrates a harmonious symphony of sustained vitality, unlike the abrupt energy spike and subsequent crash synonymous with coffee's sharp peaks and valleys. Fun Fact matcha was first introduced to the buddhist community to help sustain their long periods of meditation!
Antioxidant Content: This emerald elixir is exceptionally rich in antioxidants, particularly catechins, which have been linked to various health benefits such as improved heart health, reduced inflammation, improving skin, and enhanced immune function. Coffee also contains antioxidants, but matcha typically has a higher concentration.
Nutritional Value: Matcha is a whole-leaf tea, which means you consume the entire ground tea leaf when you drink it. This allows you to benefit from the full spectrum of nutrients present in the tea leaves, including vitamins, minerals, and fiber. In contrast, coffee is brewed, and the grounds are usually discarded, resulting in a lower nutrient content.
Gentle on the Stomach: For those with sensitive stomachs, some may find that matcha is easier on their digestive system compared to coffee, which can sometimes cause stomach discomfort, acid reflux, or irritation for some people.
If you’re still unsure about making the jump to matcha, we understand and we hear you! It takes time to fully immerse yourself into nature’s green elixir, but here at Mana Matcha we provide all the tools to get you started. We recommend trying it out for at least 2 weeks to fully wean off coffee and hop on the green train to bliss.
Whatever you choose, just know we support you on your journey to choosing the right caffeine kick for you as long as you continue to bring your positive mana into our community!
Much love,
Mana Matcha Club
